Environmental charity Hubbub has set up a free-to-join ‘Community Nature Network’ to support community-led green spaces.
Community groups will be able to access funding opportunities, resources, guidance and peer-to-peer support to establish new green spaces or improve existing ones.
The launch comes after a study by Chrysalis Research reveals that nearly two-thirds (64%) of those participating in nature-based projects and activities felt more empowered to take personal action towards tackling climate change.
Supported by funding from the Wales Family Enterprise Trust and the Bentley Environmental Foundation, the network will allow users to “share their success stories and how they’ve overcome barriers”, says Hubbub co-founder Gavin Ellis.
The Bentley Environmental Foundation has helped Hubbub to support 26 community nature projects in the UK ahead of launching the Community Nature Network. Up to £5k was awarded towards the upstart or maintenance of community-led green spaces.
