GreenBlue Urban has installed another three of its SuDSPods at United Utilities Headquarters in Warrington.
The pods have been connected to the downpipes of the Northern Gatehouse Building, which directly capture runoff of 80sqm from the 107sqm roof.
Featuring a patented three-chamber internal flow control system, the pods significantly mitigate storm impact, achieving a peak flow reduction of 76% during a typical 15-minute, one-year summer storm.
It is the second such installation, following the successful case study in Staveley, Cumbria.
Katy Bevan, operations manager (rainwater management), praised the pods at the Lingley Mere site and looks forward to what they will learn from it.
Bevan says: “[We’re] thrilled to have the SuDSPods on-site at Lingley Mere so we can showcase to our wider colleagues and visitors the innovative solutions available when it comes to Rainwater Management interventions.
“[We’re] additionally looking forward to the inclusion of monitoring so we are able to understand actual performance and benefits in our own environment and the learnings associated.”
A further pod will be installed at another building on the site, to be installed with performance monitoring equipment.
The installation underscores the critical role of effective storm water management in reducing peak flows from roofs and easing the burden on combined sewer systems.
It highlights a vital collaboration and underscores the growing relevance of advanced stormwater management solutions in today’s climate.
