LI supports new Engagement Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work

by | 02 Feb 24 | Landscape Architecture, News

The Landscape Institute has supported the development of a new Engagement Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work.

Developed in collaboration with the Association of Collaborative Design (ACD) and Sustrans, the Engagement Overlay has garnered interest from over 40 representatives from 25 built environment organisations.

Designed to deliver architects and other built environment professionals a framework for ‘meaningful’ end-to-end stakeholder engagement.

The Overlay intends to facilitate a more democratic approach to design, collaborative decision-making, and a central benchmark and reference point for best practice standards.

As well as build capability within architects and built environment professionals, support client and community communications and ensure a project and its processes meet the needs and goals of the community.

Landscape Institute president-elect, Carolin Göhler FLI says: “Participatory methods are essential for the quality planning, design and maintenance of everyday places, not just to foster inclusivity, access, and community agency, but to create places that are fit for purpose, tailored to the context of local environments, integrate well into the landscape and bring more people into the built environment sector.”
