Work is set to begin this year on a new sustainable residential development in the heart of Worthing, following planning approval in February 2024.

Local developers, Roffey Homes, will be collaborating with Worthing Borough Council to deliver over 200 mixed occupancy apartments at the Union Place site, which was once home to the town’s police station.

The project will include three secluded gardens accessible via Union Place to residents only, alongside 700 square metres of commercial space and a 236-space car park situated below the first floor gardens.

Managing director at Roffey Homes, Ben Cheal says this will be “one of the largest and most sustainable residential schemes Worthing has ever seen.”

He goes on to say the architectural design for the approved buildings will “compliment St Paul’s Church, reflecting the past buildings of Worthing in a more contemporary way.”

The development aims to support the historic Connaught Theatre and Cinema just north of the town centre, as well as other businesses in the town.

Onsite preparations will begin this summer with the support of local contractor Westbrooke Developments. Construction is pencilled to begin in December of this year.
