The Tubbercurry Public Realm Project, which prioritises strengthening local identity and climate resilience, has been given the green light.

Plans include improvements to the public realm space, shop front revitalisation and additional proposals to revitalise derelict properties and land.

Prioritising the strengthening of the space’s local identity, whilst creating public-friendly spaces that boost the area’s resilience to the changing climate.

LUC collaborated with stakeholders to create a clear vision for Tubbercurry’s development, having previously formulated the Town Centre First plan for Tubbercurry, County Sligo.

The project also saw over 300 submissions from the local community, endorsing the project. Town regeneration officer at Sligo County Council, Brían Flynn says: “This is a testament to the power of community engagement.”

He goes on to say: “The project will not only enhance the public spaces of Tubbercurry but will also create a more vibrant and resilient town for residents and visitors alike.”

This latest project aligns with the Irish government’s nationwide initiative to revitalise rural towns and foster vibrant communities as part of its Town Centre First Policy.
