Eden Project students, Victoria Jane Cucknell and Hayley Herridge, win Silver-Gilt and Gold, respectively for their Pocket Planting gardens at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival this week.

The Wild Child Cornwall, designed by Victoria Jane Cucknell, features a trail of balanced wood blocks leading to a series of growing willow sculptures that act as spaces to sit, observe and student nature.

Hayley Herridge’s the Buglife: B-Lines Garden is overflowing with wildflowers and ornamentals, showcasing how any size space can be a habitat for pollinators.

The two are students of the Garden and Landscape Design HNC at the Cornwall College University Centre, based at the Eden Project.

Their successful selection to design and exhibit show gardens at RHS Hampton Court marks a first for the course.

After the show Cucknell’s garden will return to Cornwall and live on as a community garden in Perranporth on the north coast.

While Herridge’s will be relocated across community spaces, including the Tabard Gardens Community Allotments and Tyson Road Estate,

It will then be relocated to community spaces post-show, including the Tabard Gardens Community Allotments and Tyson Road Estate, linking Devonshire Road Nature Reserve and Horniman Museum gardens in South East London.

RHS Hampton Court is running through to 7 July.
