The Amber Valley Borough Council gives the go ahead for the £22m Milford Mills redevelopment project overlooking the River Derwent.
The revised plans proposed by Wavensmere Homes include the construction of 69 new mixed occupancy homes on the historic plot within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With 42 two and three bedroom houses and 27 one and two bedroom apartments, within a four-storey building overlooking the River and Mill Lade.
Two-acres of public open space are also included in the plans, encompassed by the recent restoration of the Grade II listed Dye House by Chevin Homes to create a 4,500 sq ft commercial premise.
James Dickens, managing director of Wavensmere Homes, says; “Milford Mills will have a clear focus on sustainability and renewable energy, while delivering natural stone facades that reflects the traditional architecture of this village and the nearby market town of Belper.”
Wavensmere Homes has already spent more than £250k on archaeological investigations on-site throughout 2023, while amending the original planning application to enable the 4.7-acre development to be gas free and fully compliant with new building regulations.
