The winners of the 37th RHS Malvern Spring Festival have been announced, celebrating the evolution in the world of horticulture, with the theme of ‘Gardening for Change’ showcasing the positive impact gardening can have.

With all show garden medals given out, the winners are as follows:

The Cotswold Garden

Designed by Mark Draper and built by Graduate Gardeners Ltd, The Cotswold Garden took home the award for Best Show Garden, Best Construction and a Gold medal.

The garden, which celebrates the Graduate Gardeners 50th anniversary, uses design detailing that the company says are ‘synonymous’ of its work.

A key aspect of the design was the avoidance of using curves to reduce cutting and therefore wastage. While all plants and materials used in the garden will be reused in other Graduate Gardeners projects.

It Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth

Designed by Michael Lote and built by MJL Garden Design, the garden, inspired by the need to reinstate habitats for wildlife, impacted by property development, took home Gold at the spring event.

All materials for the garden were sourced from the same production facility to minimise transportation, with the path gravels created using waste from production of the manufacturers stone wall products.

The garden’s planting is made up of deep pigments and earth tones, resembling the echoing the contemporary and reclaimed materials featured throughout the garden.

The Concrete 2.0 Garden, designed by Ian McBain and built by Pickwell Paving, and Perennial’s The Laskett – An Autobiographical Garden, designed by David Wyndham Lewis and built by John Tallis and Outdoor Living Gardens were awarded Silver Gilt medals.

While Laura Ashton-Phillips’ Eat, Drink and be Rosemary Garden, built by John Francis, Fran Phillips, Ian and Anne Oliver took home Silver.

Alongside The Grand Appeal Garden, designed by Suzy Dean and built by Green Bear Landscaping, and The Macmillan Legacy Garden, designed by Kerianne Fitzpatrick and TJ Kennedy, and built by Design It Landscapes.

With Lu Wenjuan and Yun Sunmi’s Green Islands Garden, built by JG Landscaping taking home the Bronze.
