Peat-free nursery named ‘International Grower of the Year’ at 2024 AIPH awards

Greenwood Plants took home three awards, including overall ‘International Grower of the Year’ at the 2024 AIPH awards, held on 24 January.

The nursery was entered into the international award following its HTA ‘Peat-free Grower of the Year 2023’ win back in October, and was shortlisted with nine other commercial growers from around the world.

Greenwood’s hat-trick of awards at the 2024 AIPH also includes ‘Finished Plants and Trees, Sustainability’ and the ‘Golden Rose’.

This award compounds what the nursery says has been a “landmark year”, after having reached its target of transitioning to growing 100% in peat-free growing media.

Managing director, Melanie Asker says: “To have the opportunity to represent the United Kingdom, alongside some of the biggest and most accomplished growers globally, is truly a remarkable achievement.”

Going on to say the award win is a “testament to the hard work” of the entire nursery team.

Greenwood Plants is currently working to become net-zero, as well as self-sufficient in water and energy use in the coming years.
