by | 06 Feb 24 | Domestic Landscaping, Garden Design, News

BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair will make its return to Beaulieu over the first weekend in May (3-5 May 2024), with a host of new attractions.

Visitors can expect to see a new show layout, as well as a range of attractions, from show gardens and floral displays to garden tours and advice seminars.

Headline sponsor, Hillier will be presenting the Spring Fair’s central feature- a woodland-themed seasonal show garden with shade-friendly planting. Plant information will be available throughout to inspire visitors’ own garden plans.

New to the agenda this year is the Get Growing Stage, designed to be an informal drop-in with a focus on home growing, hosted by horticultural broadcaster, Ellene Mary.

Recognisable faces from the world of ‘Grow Your Own’ will be sharing their top tips, including Jason Williams (Cloud Gardener UK), flower farmer Kim O’Brien, mushroom growers Caley Brothers, and chefs from The Pig and Lime Wood hotel.

Also new to the 2024 roster is the Plant Expert Workshop Marquee, where visitors are encouraged to get dug into a range of practical activities led by plant experts Lucy Chamberlain, Saul Walker and Rosy Hardy, founder of Hampshire-based nursery, Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants.

The team will be hosting bookable, hands-on workshops daily, themes include Peat-Free Propagation, 10 Essentials of Grow Your Own, and Keeping Healthy Houseplants.

Another new addition to this year is an exclusive fine dining invitation from Gardeners’ World presenter, Adam Frost and Lime Wood chef director, Luke Holder.

The duo will be hosting a limited availability Supper Club at Lime Wood on Saturday 4 May with a menu featuring locally sourced produce, including fruit and veg from Lime Wood’s greenhouse and kitchen garden.

At the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Stage, special guests Frances Tophill (Friday), Adam Frost (Saturday), and – new for 2024 – Sue Kent (Saturday) and Rachel de Thame (Sunday) will be joining the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine’s editors to share seasonal gardening advice.

With over 30 plant nurseries and growers and a range of retailers on site, visitors can shop until their hearts content for seasonal plants, garden accessories, tools and even furniture.

While the Spring Fair’s Showcase Gardens, College Garden competition and compact Beautiful Borders are sure to inspire, with designs from students from Merrist Wood College, to three seasonal, edible Borders by Jon Wheatleey of Stone Barn Landscapes- and many more.
